Hello! Here I am!

 Hello there! / "¡Oh qué paso!" I'm Juanca a 24 years old from Gran Canaria, Spain. I was studying Computer Engineering in the ULPGC, but after many years I burned out and decided to take a year-off to try other experiences.

 While I was thinking about what to do a friend of mine told me about the EVS; helping people in other countries, working with an association and living abroad; while she was telling me about that it was in that moment that I knew what I wanted to do.

Here is Resita
So I started searching around for EVS projects and opportunities, after a couple of months, Nevo Parudimos sent me a contact request which I accepted, after they sent me the infopack (I was in Granada!) I was thrilled that project seemed perfect for me! I talked with them and soon I got and interview.

After talking with Lilla (One of the project coordinators) they accepted me! So after making some arrangements with them (I couldn't come in december so we have to check if it was ok in January) I started the preparatives to go to Resita in Romania. I was going to stay for 1 year and work in the project V for Volunteering, this was huge to me I have travelled a couple of times but never have lived abroad, moreover for 1 year! Nevertheless I was excited to start.


   After Christmas (In Spain it lasts until January 6) it was the moment to pack all my things and start the biggest change that I ever experienced. So after saying goodbye to my family and friend I entered my first of 3 flights. 

  In Madrid, my first stop, I met Agus another volunteer working in the smae project as mine. There we spend the day together, getting to know each other, until it was time to go to the airport again and hop in the next fly to Milan.

 In Milan we stayed all the night in the airport (not recommended) so when it was time for the next and final flight we were very tired. Nevertheless we were excited to come to Resita and couldn't wait to land.

   After arriving in Timisoara, we have to wait a few minutes until Nevo came to pick us up, there we also meet Özge the other volunteer in our project, so while we introduce ourselves Cosmin (One of the guys from Nevo) arrived and we got in the car. Finally Resita was so close!

 We reached Resita one and a half hour later, it looked like a nice city! First we went to Nevo to meet all the people that worked and the we went to our apartments. That day we were dead tired, so after unpacking we met for a pizza and went home to rest.

The next day we did have a party but let's leave it for another moment!

First everything in Resita

Oh boy, what a month! January disappeared in the blink of an eye, so many things happened that I don't know where to start. Well let's pick it up where I left it. Buğra with a guitar that we found xD The first event after arriving here was the welcome party for all the newcomers, there I met all the other volunteers and started to get to know each of them. They did a great job welcoming us all and making us feel right at home from the very beginning! The next week I didn't have activities, but our coordinators suggested to join some veterans to get some experience before it was our turn to start. That week I went to Primavara, a center for disabled children, and the orphanage. At first it was a bit overwhelming but I didn't take too long to get used to it. Aside from that, I spent my time getting to know my roomate and the other volunteers, we went to a little pub near my apartment called Racing, a great little place. Goodbyes, Snowy Mountains and Little Paris

Oh February, what a bittersweet month, as always so many things happened but this time not all of them were good, but I shouldn't get too ahead of myself. Let's start from the beginning.  The month started in a good note, the activities were going good, I was getting along with the others and life was starting to fall into an easy flow. I was hanging out mostly in the "Cockroach" apartment, playing games and drinking with them, I became fast friends with them. But this was the first "bad" moment of the month, half of the people from that apartment were finishing their projects and had to leave. It was the first goodbye from my EVS, and it was a sad one. Of Campfire and Hikes

If I think February was bittersweet, March would probably be frustrating. I can't say that a lot happened this month, but let's start from the beginning. One of the first things that happened in March was an intercultural night in the local university, they asked us to bring some traditional food of our countries, I did a jug of Sangria representing Spain lol. Well here we are in a cavern. After that shit started to go downhill, first everyone got a cold (Sorry guys) and then the schools closed in all Romania, COVID-19 was starting to become a serious threat, so the government decided to not risk lives and wasted no time on enforcing stricters measures. Without anything to do we reunited and try to come with some alternatives for our activities, so we arrived at the ideas of videos. After that seeing how the measures were becoming stricter, our coordinators organized a hike for us. It was an amazing day in nature and my first hike here in Romania, after so long it was
